Established in 1913 and located in the borough of Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania, Eagle Fire Company #1 serves the borough of Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania and the Eastern half of East Manchester Township.  Eagle Fire Company #1 also provides mutual aid to surrounding companies.

Tractor Trailer vs. Train / Mount Wolf

At approximately 1:00pm on 8/27/2012 Eagle Fire Company was alerted for vehicle accident involving a Norfolk Southern train and a tractor trailer with a possible pedestrian struck. Engine 22 arrived on scene first and began a size-up with Chief 22-2 on board. Engine 22 deployed a hand line to the incident which is capable of class B foam. Rescue 23 arrived and began to assist Engine 22 with deploying speed dry to the leaking diesel fuel tanks which was leaking from the tractor trailer. There was also a 150 gallon hydraulic fluid tank leaking on the ground. Rescue 24 crews deployed booms into the creek to stop any fluids that had gotten into Manhattan Run which feeds into the Susquehanna River. Ambulance 24 checked the driver for injuries and Ambulance 23 remained on scene for crew safety. Haz-Mat 91 from York County responded and assisted with fluid controls. York County 911 responded with Mobile Command Post-91 which served as unified command post of Fire, Police, EMS and Haz-Mat (EMA). After many hours of planning and preparation, the vehicles were successfully removed from each other around 5:00pm and a crane was brought in to lift the trailer out of a creek so that it could be removed by the towing service. A private Haz-Mat clean up company was on site to remove all soil and rocks that were affected by the fuel and hydraulic fluid spill. All units returned in service at 6:49pm. Eagle Fire Company operated with over 18 personnel on scene with Engine 22, Tanker 22, Engine 22-2 and Utility 22.

 

Chestnut Street

At 2145 on 12Aug2012 stations 22, 23 and 24 were alerted for an odor of something burning in a home on Chestnut Street in East Manchester Township.  The Engine responded with a crew of 6 and the Tanker responded with a crew of 2.  Chief 23-1 (Rentzel) arrived on scene to find a 2 story single family residence with the family reporting the odor of something burning inside.  Engine 22 wrapped the hydrant and established the water source.  Engine 23 crew were sent interior to investigate the source of the odor.  Upon investigation the interior crew found a mal-functioning refrigerator.  Crews cleared the scene at 2240. 

 

AFA at Georgia Pacific

At 21:38 Eagle fire company was dispatched along with Union Fire company (station 23) and Manchester TWP (station 24) to 25 Walnut St. for a Automatic fire alarm. Engine 22 went responding with a crew of 5, upon arrival engines 22 crew investigated and discovered a broken sprinkler head. All crews returned back in service at 22:03 after putting a wedges in the head to stop the water flow.

 

Hellam Township Fire

At 1718 Eagle Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 21 (Hellam Borough) on a reported structure fire on Codorus Furance Road in Hellam Township.  The Engine responded with a crew of 5.  Once on scene the crew was sent interior to investigate the attic space.  After investigation the source of the odor was found.  Crews cleared the scene at 1820. 

 

Pig Roast to Benefit Eagle Fire Company

The citizens of the Starview area will hold a pig roast on August 18th from 4pm - 9pm to benefit Eagle Fire Company.  The event will be held at 55 Codurus Furance Road and includes all you can eat pulled pork and seafood chowder, and a live band.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the station at 717-266-2342
