New Engine Arrives Home

Our new Engine from KME arrives home from the factory.  We expect that it will be placed in service in early November.  It will head to Fire Rescue Products to have tools mounted and complete some final inspections.

2 Car Accident Sends 4 To Hospital

At approximately 5:45pm Chief 22 advised York County 911 of a possible crash in the 4200 block of N. Sherman St Ext in East Manchester Twp.  An Eagle firefighter lives 1/8 mile away, heard the crash and responded right away.  Chief 22 and Captain 22 arrived right away and began PT assessment.  Chief 22 established command.  Engine 22-1 arrived on scene shortly after dispatch and assisted with PT care until the ambulances arrived on scene.  Rescue 23 assisted with vehicle shutdown's and patient care.  A total of 3 BLS units were needed including Ambulance 23-1, Ambulance 24 and Ambulance 273.  Penndot was requested to bring sand to the area due to the large amount of fluids in the road and the distance that they were.  Command released Rescue 23 to back up Engine 22-2 that was dispatched to a CO detector activation on Lake Dr in East Manchester Township.  Chief 22 and fire police re-opened the roadway at around 8:30pm.

Stove Fire in Mount Wolf Borough

At 11:45pm crews from Eagle Fire Company were alerted to a reported stove fire in a home at 208 S. 6th St in Mount Wolf Borough.  Engine 22-1, Tanker 22 and Utility 22 responded along with Engine 23-1, Engine 23-2 and Truck 24.  Chief 22 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke banking down to floor level and throughout the home.  Command was established and a working fire assignment was requested.  Engine 22-1 took the front of the structure and deployed a 1 3/4" hand-line into the garage area to begin fire attack along with Chief 23-1.  Engine 23-2 layed 5" supply line from the hydrant at Maple St and S. 6th St to Engine 22-1.  Engine 23-1 staged on side A and brought manpower forward.  Interior crews performed a rapid knockdown of the fire and little extension was found.  The supply line was never charged and under 50 gallons of water was used to bring the fire into check.  Crews performed positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke from the home and checked all areas for extension.  The working fire assignment was cancelled and crews began to assist the homeowner with cleanup.  The homeowner was provided 2 new smoke detectors since she would be staying inside the home until morning.  The home had recently been under renovation and there was a delay in alerting the occupants of the fire because the detector was off the ceiling and laying on a table.  The smoke needed to bank down that low until it alerted.  Eagle Fire Company operated on scene with 10 firefighters and 1 fire police officer.

New Engine Nears Completion

Please take a look as some of the pictures of our new engine that is nearing completion and is now in the final phase of it's construction.  The contract was awarded to KME (Kovatch) for $400,000.  We anticipate approximately $50,000 in total equipment costs and will be ready to place this unit in service around the 1st of November following driver training.  Fire Rescue Products and Lo Barrack have been a large success in making this happen and ensuring that we will have an engine that will enhance our capability.  This unit will replace the current Engine 22-1 a 1994 Darley / Spartan.
